Frequently Asked Questions

Cushions
Our core cushion collection is available in two versatile sizes: 55 × 55 cm square cushions and 40 × 60 cm lumbar cushions.
For a 55 × 55 cm cushion cover, we recommend a 60 × 60 cm feather insert.
Our feather inserts are designed to provide a full and plush look when used with your cushion covers. For best results, we recommend selecting an insert that is slightly larger than the cover size. A 60 × 60 cm insert works perfectly with a 55 × 55 cm cushion cover, helping to fill the corners and create a generous, well-shaped finish.
Yes. All Darcy & Duke cushions include a premium feather insert, so your cushion arrives complete and ready to style.
Our feather inserts are generously filled to create a full, plush appearance while retaining the relaxed character and softness of a feather-filled cushion.
Our 55 × 55 cm square cushions include a 60 × 60 cm feather insert.
We intentionally use an insert slightly larger than the cushion cover to create a fuller, more plush appearance. The larger insert fills the corners of the cover and gives the cushion its generous, well-shaped finish.
Using an insert slightly larger than the cushion cover helps create a fuller appearance and prevents the cushion from looking flat or underfilled.
For our 55 × 55 cm square cushion covers, we use 60 × 60 cm feather inserts. This gives the finished cushion a plush, generous shape while maintaining the relaxed look of a feather-filled cushion.
The right cushion size depends on the proportions of your sofa, but larger cushions generally create a more relaxed and luxurious appearance.
Our 55 × 55 cm square cushions work particularly well as the foundation of an arrangement. They can then be layered with 40 × 60 cm lumbar cushions to introduce a different shape and create depth.
There is no fixed rule. For a smaller sofa, two or three cushions may be enough, while a larger three-seat or modular sofa can comfortably accommodate four, five or more.
Rather than filling every available space, leave some of the sofa visible. Mixing square and lumbar cushions can create a more natural, considered arrangement.
Start with a simple colour palette and introduce variation through texture, pattern and tone.
Rather than matching every cushion exactly, choose pieces that complement one another. A patterned cushion can be paired with quieter textured or plain designs, while repeating one or two colours throughout the arrangement helps bring everything together.
Darcy & Duke collections are designed to be mixed and layered, allowing you to create your own combination.
Beige, cream and natural sofas provide a versatile foundation for cushions.
For a tonal look, combine natural, sand, stone and warm neutral shades with different textures. For more contrast, introduce deeper colours such as olive, forest green, tobacco, rust or indigo.
Texture is particularly effective in neutral interiors, adding depth while keeping the overall palette understated.
Yes. Our decorative cushions work beautifully on both sofas and beds.
For a simple arrangement, try layering two square cushions with a lumbar cushion positioned in front. Combining different proportions creates depth without making the bed feel overly styled.
Materials & Care
Care requirements vary depending on the fabric, so always follow the specific care instructions provided with your Darcy & Duke cushion.
For everyday maintenance, gently fluff and reshape feather-filled cushions regularly. This redistributes the filling and helps maintain their full appearance.
We also recommend avoiding prolonged exposure to strong direct sunlight, which can cause some fabrics and colours to fade over time.
This depends on the fabric.
Always refer to the care label and product information before cleaning your cushion cover. Some decorative, woven and textured fabrics may require professional cleaning rather than machine washing.
We make every effort to represent the colours and materials of our products accurately.
However, colours can appear slightly different depending on your screen settings, surrounding colours and the lighting within your home. Textured and woven fabrics can also change subtly in appearance depending on the direction and intensity of the light.
Slight variations are part of the character of many textured fabrics.
